A Guide To Finding Your New Go-To VJC Smoothie
We’ve all had that moment- you walk into a restaurant, totally unsure what to order, and overwhelmed by all the seemingly delicious choices.
VJC has so many smoothies and smoothie bowls, each equally delicious… so how do you narrow it down? Well, we like to think that many of our smoothies are comparable to a dessert, but unlike your typical confection, you’ll be filled with vitamin packed fruits and veggies.
Here is a breakdown of which VJC smoothie you should order, based on your favorite dessert. With this, you can make better decisions when you're craving that sweet treat, yet might want to opt for a nutrient dense smoothie instead.
Note- I am by no means saying that these smoothies will replace your favorite cake or pastry- normal desserts have their time and place, and you should #treatyourself if you feel so inclined! Rather, use this as a guide to narrow down which smoothie you might like to try!
Strawberry Shortcake- Pinky Swear
If Strawberry shortcake is your go-to dessert, then we suggest opting for the Pinky Swear. The strawberry and date blend beautiful together for the fresh, tart, but oh-so-sweet taste that you’d find in a shortcake. You really can’t go wrong with this one
Tiramisu- Mocha Nana
If you are a fan of the decadent, coffee, spongey Italian delicacy, then the Mocha Nana is for you. The addition of cold brew brings a smooth bitterness to balance out the sweetness of the banana, date, and cacao, just as the coffee does in a Tiramisu
Banana Split- Curious George
Our Curious George shines with notes of bananas, nuts, and chocolate… sound familiar? Yep. This smoothie just might remind you of a classic American dessert- the banana split. Just like the banana split, our Curious George is a crowd favorite… it’s never going out of style!
Grasshopper Pie- Mint Chip
Mmmmm… Grasshopper pie. Its creamy, mint filling and delectable chocolate cookie crumb crust are unmistakably delicious. The VJC adaptation of this frozen goodness would be our mint chip smoothie. The same sweet, chilled, mint chocolate harmony you love about grasshopper pie is also brought about in the mint chip smoothie. Who could say no to that?
Pineapple Upside Down Cake- Sunset
The pineapple is the true star of our Sunset smoothie, just as it is in a pineapple upside down cake! Notes of mango and lime will transport you to a tropical island, maybe even remind you of a beautiful ~sunset~. If you tend to like the sweet, tropical flavors that are found in pineapple upside down cake, you will not be disappointed with our sunset smoothie.
Blueberry Cobbler - Super Blue
Blueberry cobbler- an all time favorite summer dessert. How could a smoothie possibly taste like cobbler? Well, the addition of almond butter and chia seeds add a richness and thickness reminiscent of that crispy cobbler topping we all love. All blended together with creamy almond milk, it’ll give you your cobbler fix, but in liquid form, and loaded with way more nutrients and antioxidants. Don’t knock it till ya try it!
While I’m not going to pretend that a smoothie can always replace a true dessert, the VJC menu provides some great healthy alternatives that can still fulfill that sweet craving, minus all that added sugar. Many of our ingredients bring a natural sweetness to the table that will leave you satisfied, but also nourished and full of good vitamins and minerals that are not typically found in a “classic” dessert. It’s a win-win!
