You hear it all the time.
“Eat your greens!”.
But why? For starters, they are packed with essential vitamins and minerals, a great source of fiber all while being low in calories.
However, despite all of these “green superpowers”, sometimes they don’t always suit the taste buds. And when you’re on the go a lot, often times it can be hard finding options that incorporate these dark, leafy greens, while still enjoying them!
The real question for many of us becomes not “why should I eat my greens?”, but rather “how can I incorporate them into my diet more frequently?”
To help you out, we have three suggested habits for you to help get those superfoods in your diet for that healthy lifestyle:
1. Blend Them In Your Smoothie
It will have that same great taste, we promise. Including greens in your smoothie fix is such an easy way to make sure your body is getting those nutrients. Try adding kale or spinach to your regular smoothie concoction. Don’t have time to make your own? VJC offers smoothies - such as Mint Chip and the Green Coco - with super leaves like kale and spinach to infuse a green touch into a delicious tasting smoothie.
2. Eat A Salad For Lunch
People often complain how tired they get of their salads, but in our opinion, if you build your salad, or mix up the toppings, you’ll never get bored. Getting into the habit of eating a salad for lunch is a great way to help eat those greens on the daily. If you don’t like creating your own mix up, come by VJC and pick from our array of salads and grain bowls. We only use super greens such as kale, spinach, romaine and arugula so you’ll be feeling superb in seconds. Want a suggestion? For the summer, try our Arugula & Beet Salad with arugula and spinach or the Edie Bowl with kale and quinoa.
3. Reboot With Juice
We’ve said it before; a great way to eat your greens is well… to drink them! Especially in the summer heat, a cold refreshing juice is a great choice to stay hydrated while getting those greens in. Stock on some of our favorite green juices such as the Game Changer or the Get Real for a refreshing yet healthy pick-me-up.
