When Life Hands You Lemons, Squeeze The Day!

There is something about summer that sparks a craving for an iced cold glass of freshly squeezed lemonade. Maybe it’s the thick humidity that layers in the air in this North Carolina heat or maybe it is the nostalgia that takes us back to those idyllic days of childhood. Nethertheless, there is one truth that can’t be ignored: lemons do wonders. But how? And why are lemons so good for us?

To channel your superhuman powers this #SuperhumanSaturday, let’s talk about this citrus fruit.

At VJC, we use lemons in a lot of our juices and we want to show you WHY lemons are a great addition to your healthy diet:

A sweet, tart bite of lemons:

This powerful and healing fruit contains incredible antibiotic, antiseptic and anti-cancer properties while being rich in vitamin C and B-complex and an abundance of essential minerals.

Interestingly enough, despite the bitter, acidic taste of lemons, they can actually help alkaline the body and keep us in our neutral balance.

Lemons are a great aid in digestion and immunity. They contain a compound called limonene which dissolves gallstones and kidney stones and the compound can help fight an array of cancers. Rich in bioflavonoids, lemons can significantly boost the immune system and reduce inflammation in the body - being a great remedy in particular for colds, coughs, COPD, high cholesterol, autoimmune disorders (and many other health complications). And for my skin care devotees, lemon juice is a great natural remedy for wrinkles, acne and sunburns 😜.
