Maybe your weekend was draining from the travels of 4th of July, or maybe you had the time of your life with all of the barbecuing and fireworks.

Whatever energy you may be channeling there is one thing you can’t ignore - fueling yourself throughout the day. There’s breakfast, lunch, and dinner to worry about, but what happens when you need a small pick-me-up in the middle of the afternoon? We don’t want that crash, which is why we created the Boss Bar to help cure cravings while sustaining strong energy for the rest of your day.

Fulfilling snacks that help take care of your body can be difficult to choose. At VJC, we want to make sure we have fulfilling, yet delicious snacks that you can grab on the go. For this #ManiFreshToMonday, let's talk about what's in our display case, and more specifically, our Boss Bar, a granola-type bar, blended full of superfoods and ready to help you be the #Boss we know you are


What happens when you mix nuts and seeds together? Add some healthy fats like coconut and cacao? Sweeten it with real sugar such as honey and dates?

You become a boss.

We blended a variety of nuts and seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, flax, chia, and hemp seeds, to create a bursting with energy snack. We’ve already learned about almonds and chia seeds here, but what about all of these other super seeds? Hemp seeds and pumpkin seeds are excellent sources of magnesium and hemp seeds contain a great amount of protein, making this a great selection for our plant based product lovers. Sunflower seeds provide a great source of Vitamin E and selenium while potentially helping to manage inflammation.

There is also no denying that we all need healthy fats in our diet, which is why we use coconut, almond and cacao butter in the Boss Bar. These elements give it that dense, mouthwatering experience with each bite. The goji berries, date, honey and vanilla bean, provide a sweet touch I mean, who doesn’t love the comforting taste of vanilla and honey with these superpowers?

The hemp plant is commonly associated with the marijuana plant, but the two plants are actually very different. While the marijuana plant contains high contents of the psychoactive properties of THC, the hemp plant contains very little traces of THC and is actually a great source of protein, fat, and magnesium.  

  • We all know the health benefits of chocolate, but vanilla deserves the spotlight too! This food is a great source of potassium, magnesium and calcium.

  • Cacao refers to the raw plant “Theobroma cacao tree” while cocoa is used when cacao seeds are roasted and formed into powder.
